GERIK: Warga Emas Fitness (WE FIT) has become the first fitness program launched specifically for senior citizens in the state of Perak.
Chairman of the Perak Committee on Women’s Development, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Salbiah Mohamed, said the initiative—implemented by the Perak State Women’s Development Secretariat—aims to ensure the socio-economic well-being of the people, particularly the elderly.
“As we know, Perak is now considered an ageing state, with the number of senior citizens increasing according to statistics.
“Therefore, the WE FIT initiative was introduced to support the Perak Sejahtera 2030 agenda,” she said.
Salbiah added that the program aims to raise awareness about the importance of exercise for the elderly.
“This program helps improve their quality of life and health levels.
“At the same time, it promotes an active, healthy, and joyful spirit in their golden years,” she said.
She also mentioned that the program will be extended to six more locations this year.
“I hope this program will continue to receive strong support, so that this noble effort can be sustained in the coming years,” she said.
