56 Teams from Malaysia & Indonesia Compete in Ipoh Mayor’s Cup 2025

IPOH: A total of 56 football teams from across Malaysia and Indonesia took part in the Ipoh Football Festival Datuk Bandar Cup 2025.

In a statement, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) said the tournament, organised in collaboration with the Ipoh City Hall Sports Club (KSDBI), was held over two days starting from 27 September.

“Of the total, 32 teams competed in the Under-12 category, while 24 teams participated in the Under-16 category,” the statement said.

The matches were held at two main venues at Perak Rugby Stadium and Padang Ipoh.

Three divisions were contested – Cup, Plate, and Bowl.

“This tournament not only serves as a platform to nurture young football talent but also strengthens sportsmanship and cooperation among sports communities from various states and neighbouring countries,” the statement added.

MBI Council Members’ Chief Whip, Dato’ Mazlan Abdul Rahman, attended the event on behalf of the Mayor of Ipoh.

Anak Rimau emerged as champions after defeating defending champions, Akademi Wira Muda.

Meanwhile,Highlanders U16 were crowned champions after beating the MBI Anderson combined team through a penalty shootout.

Additionally, the tournament is hoped to continue serving as a vital platform for identifying and developing young football talents, with the aim of producing national and international-level athletes in the future.
