Gotong-Royong in Lumut, Boosting Cleanliness and Community Awareness

By Zaki Salleh

LUMUT: As a tourist town, Lumut’s image as a clean area is crucial to maintaining its good reputation, especially in commercial zones.

Therefore, a gotong-royong (communal work) program was carried out by the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) at the back lane of Taman Lumut Pantai Impian, Lumut.

The program received cooperation from MPM staff, Council Members, and employees of Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd.

Cleaning efforts focused on roadside lanes and curbs, drains, garbage piles, and solid waste in open areas, premises, and residential surroundings.

This initiative aimed to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes and eliminate potential habitats for wild animals, thereby ensuring public well-being and enhancing the area’s image within the Manjung district.

Programs like this not only help improve cleanliness but also cultivate a spirit of cooperation and social responsibility among the community and local authorities.

MPM extends its highest appreciation to all involved and hopes that such initiatives will continue on a regular basis.

This is especially encouraged on a monthly basis, to create a cleaner, healthier, and more harmonious environment for all residents.
