Today, I was a rebel
I squeezed the toothpaste tube from the top
I left the bathroom light on
and the toilet seat up
– because I can
Today I was a daredevil
I bungee-jumped without a cord
from the wrong side of the bed
I pole-vaulted the 101″ OLED 4K Smart TV
installed on the wall
I restored my atoms on the other side
with stolen pixels
I left my phone on airplane mode
then popped the emergency door and
skydived into my shower
– just because
Today I ate the Breakfast of Chumps
I put in four tablespoons of sugar
in my coffee because no one said when
I poached my egg then smuggled
the carcass out of the kitchen
I let my cornflakes drown in my milk
because I’m a cereal killer
I burnt my toast on purpose
– but wait I always do that
Today, my derring-do extended beyond
my domestic dungeon
I escaped my captors climbing
through the 13th storey window
I base-jumped using a parachute made up
of security blankets
I tried to elude the Nepalese guards
with a Vulcan neck pinch
but they countered with the Himalayan
sleep-hold which rendered me unconscious
and back on the right side of the bed
Today, I sowed my oats and reaped it
Then ate it with a bent fork
I remembered nothing
only that I was not a rebel, merely alone, forgetful
and often too indulgent with creative
delusions
