“If road cleaning were as efficient as issuing parking summons” – Resident

By Aida Aziz

IPOH: It is time for the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to monitor and reassess the cleaning work carried out by its appointed subcontractors.

This was the view of a lifelong Ipoh resident who expressed disappointment with the quality of work by the contractors, adding that it would be ideal if road-cleaning operations were carried out as swiftly as enforcement officers issue parking summonses.

He added that it should not take an issue going viral before cleaning action is taken.

“Ipoh is close to my heart because I am a Perak native and was born here. After working in many other states, I still like Ipoh. Although it is a small city, it has everything.

“I raised this issue several years ago and it was only resolved after it went viral for a few days.

“This road is very close to MBI in Greentown, as it is located behind the Ipoh Convention Centre. On the right side is the centre itself, and on the left is AC Hotel, formerly known as Hotel Syuen.

“If road-cleaning work were as efficient as issuing parking summonses in this area, I believe situations like this would not occur.

“I think there should be a reshuffle of officers to place more efficient personnel to properly monitor the cleaning work carried out by subcontractors,” he said in a post on his social media account.

He added that the overgrown and poorly maintained roadside area is one of the routes frequently used by tourists visiting the city.
