By Zaki Salleh

KAMPAR: Oral history stories of Kampar have attracted the interest of students from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), who are taking the Heritage and Community Tourism Management course.

This took place through a heritage history storytelling session held recently at De Cassia Hotel here.

The course is led by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, UPM, Professor Dr. Azlizam Aziz.

The session featured invited speakers Abdul Karim Yahaya and Nor Hisham Zulkiflee as representatives of educators, while Norhisyam Mohd Arshad and Mohd Izazi Mohd Ali represented the local community.

They shared stories, historical facts, and valuable experiences related to Kampar’s heritage and historical journey.

The sharing session not only provided direct exposure for UPM students but also contributed to efforts to preserve and document local heritage so that it continues to be appreciated and passed on to future generations.

The session aimed to collect oral historical information and document stories, experiences, and knowledge from the local community, particularly related to Kampar’s development, identity, and heritage values, as reference material and for academic learning.
