Most music teachers do not have Music Teaching certificates. So JSic Music, alongside the Department of Skills Development (DSD), which is under the Ministry of Human Resources, are offering the opportunity for music teachers to upskill themselves and elevate their prestige through certification from the government.
On top of that, full grants are available for a limited number of placements for those who apply by 25 February 2026.


Malaysia’s TVET programme with its Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) courses are aimed at nurturing a highly skilled, industry ready workforce, driving the nation towards a high-income, developed economy status by 2030. This SKM Music Teaching certification with its curricula meets the market demands and also fosters entrepreneurship.
This Music Teaching SKM is a nationally recognized qualification awarded by the DSD, under the Ministry of Human Resources. Graduates of this training programme will be able to teach comfortably well either privately or at music schools.
Besides learning all the essential topics to prepare music students for their music exams, additional topics will be included to ensure all applicants will be equipped to be competitive in the market, such as social communication skills, marketing skills via social media and even introduction to AI music tools.
Requirements for application are:
– Above 18 years old (no maximum age)
– Malaysia citizen
– Minimum: Grade 6 and above
– Must graduate with Grade 8 or Diploma certs by the end of the course
For the full grant, it is a full time course for 18 months. For self-paying, there will be a subsidy along with more flexible timings for tutorials and practicals. To ask for more details, kindly contact 018-3372378
