Improper waste disposal causes foul odour and poor environmental hygiene

MANJUNG: The Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) has carried out cleaning works around rubbish bins in Kampung Pasir Panjang Laut following reports of waste being left outside the designated bins.

The situation had caused the surrounding area to become unkempt, requiring additional cleaning measures.

In a statement, MPM said the clean-up operation could have been avoided if the public had disposed of their rubbish properly.

“What is thrown away may only be daily waste, but its impact consumes the time and energy of workers who are forced to manage a situation that could have been prevented.

“Every piece of rubbish not placed in the bin not only pollutes the area, but also reflects our level of responsibility towards shared spaces.

“When action is taken, some question it. If no action is taken, questions arise over the execution of duties,” the statement said.

MPM stressed that it will continue to fulfil its responsibilities to ensure cleanliness, public well-being, and the protection of public interests.

The council also urged all parties to play their role in maintaining environmental cleanliness, noting that facilities have been provided and should be used responsibly.

Cleanliness, it said, is not solely the responsibility of the authorities, but also a reflection of society’s collective attitude.
