KAMPAR — Visitors to Ramadan bazaars in the district are encouraged to bring their own bags to reduce the use of plastic bags.
The recommendation by the Majlis Daerah Kampar (MDKpr) aims to educate and raise awareness on reducing plastic usage.

In a statement, MDKpr said that the campaign also emphasises bringing personal food containers when purchasing dishes, as well as reducing food wastage during the month of Ramadan among traders and bazaar visitors.
“Bazaar traders are also advised to always ensure that the food sold is clean and safe to prevent the spread of food poisoning.
“It is MDKpr’s aspiration that all residents of Kampar support the campaign to avoid the use of single-use plastic bags and prevent food wastage, especially throughout the month of Ramadan,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the council also carried out initiatives, including the distribution of aprons and hats to Ramadan bazaar traders, as well as reusable bags to early visitors at the Gopeng Ramadan Bazaar (near Dewan Bandaran Gopeng) and Dataran Sri Malim (near Arena Rakyat Tualang Sekah).
During the session, MDKpr council members and personnel distributed aprons, hats and reusable bags to traders and visitors at both bazaar locations.
The objective of the programme is to educate the Kampar community on reducing the use of single-use plastic bags.
