Chap Goh Meh Cultural Night & Grand Parade lights up Pekan Lama, Taman D.R. Seenivasagam

IPOH — Stage performances featuring Cantonese opera, traditional Orang Asli dances and Chinese orchestra shows enlivened the Chap Goh Meh Cultural Night & Grand Parade 2026 celebration.
The event was held in a lively atmosphere around Ipoh Old Town and concluded at Taman D.R. Seenivasagam as the highlight of the Chinese New Year celebrations in Perak.


Organised by the Perak Chinese Assembly Hall, the programme brought together various parade contingents and cultural performances reflecting the diversity of the community’s cultural heritage.
The Grand Parade began at Ipoh Padang and proceeded to Taman D.R. Seenivasagam, followed by stage performances featuring Cantonese opera, traditional Orang Asli dances, Chinese orchestra performances, 24 Festive Drums, traditional dances, Diabolo performances and lion dances that enlivened the celebration.


Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming officiated the event, which was attended by thousands of visitors from within and outside Perak.
The celebration showcased the spirit of unity and togetherness among the community as it marked the conclusion of the Chinese New Year festivities in Ipoh, in line with efforts to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
