IPOH: The development of Gerbang Malam and Kinta Riverwalk was among the key topics discussed with Ipoh Mayor, Zamakhshari Hanipah, and the board of directors of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) during a coordination meeting.
Housing and Local Government Exco, Sandrea Ng, said the meeting also reviewed several matters related to city development and community management across Ipoh.
“Among the matters discussed were the progress of Gerbang Malam Ipoh, Kinta Riverwalk, the implementation of the Perak Pawsitive Initiative, as well as the Ipoh Town Special Area Plan: Tin Heritage City (Review). These efforts aim to ensure urban development is more organised, sustainable, and aligned with Ipoh’s heritage identity,” she said.

She added that such discussions are crucial to strengthening coordination between the state government and local authorities to ensure that planning initiatives deliver the best outcomes for the community.
In a related development, Sandrea also conducted a site visit to the Taman Kanak-Kanak Food Court to assess current facilities and identify improvement needs for the comfort of traders and visitors.

The visit was attended by local traders, who took the opportunity to raise feedback and complaints directly with MBI representatives.
MBI Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak, was also present to observe the issues firsthand and determine follow-up actions that could be taken.
Sandrea emphasised that hands-on approaches are vital to ensure every plan and solution is aligned with the actual needs of the community.
