Youth Drive Malaysia MADANI Values Through Sinar Ramadan Community Initiative

By KT Leong

KUALA KANGSAR – Youth volunteers in Perak are stepping forward as drivers of community compassion and unity, translating the principles of Malaysia MADANI into grassroots action through the Sinar Ramadan initiative aimed at supporting families in need ahead of Aidilfitri.

Organised by Angkatan Belia MFLS (ABM) Perak in collaboration with the Perak Islamic Students Association (KPPIP), the two-day programme on 13 and 14 March brought together youth volunteers to support families in need in Kampung Kuala Kenas and at SMK Sultan Tajul Ariffin.

The initiative saw volunteers carrying out several community outreach activities, including the distribution of food baskets, the preparation and sharing of bubur lambuk, as well as Ziarah Kasih visits to underprivileged households ahead of the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

A symbolic highlight of the programme was the presentation of Aidilfitri greeting cards from the Prime Minister to residents through the Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia, reflecting a message of appreciation and unity within the community.

ABM Perak President Ikhmal Aimin said the programme reflects the growing role of youth in strengthening compassion, volunteerism, and social responsibility in line with the values championed under Malaysia MADANI.

“Youth volunteers are not only here to contribute assistance, but also to understand the realities faced by the community while nurturing empathy and solidarity,” he said.

The programme was implemented with the support of the Perak Islamic Religious Council (MAIPk), the office of the State Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports and Higher Education, as well as Econsave, which contributed to the success of the welfare activities.

Residents who received the assistance expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the presence of youth volunteers and the support provided helped ease preparations for Aidilfitri.

Organisers hope that similar programmes will continue to be expanded in the future with greater participation from youth organisations and community partners, further strengthening the culture of volunteerism while nurturing the values of Malaysia MADANI among the younger generation.
