IPOH – A total of RM40,000 in cash prizes awaits the winners of the Conceptual Design Ideas Competition for the Proposed Reconstruction of Pasar Pasir Puteh.

As widely known, the market was destroyed in a fire in February 2024.
Following the incident, operations at the market were forced to cease, significantly affecting traders who lost their primary source of income.
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) said the reconstruction project aims to restore the market’s function with facilities that are safer, cleaner and more modern, while supporting the economic recovery of local traders.
“In line with the requirements set by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), MBI is pleased to invite all eligible individuals to participate in this competition.
“Registration opens on March 25 and closes on April 15, with a fee of RM150 imposed for each entry.
“The public may refer to the listed eligibility criteria, and there are three prize categories, bringing the total cash prize pool to RM40,000,” the statement said.
Pasar Pasir Puteh is a traditional wet market in Ipoh that has been operating since 1957 and serves as a daily trading hub for the local community.
Following the fire, MBI constructed a temporary market, which was completed in July last year, to ensure business activities could continue.
