Harmoni Hijau Programme Strengthens Landscape Culture at Kinta Heights

By: Zaki Salleh

IPOH — The Ipoh City Council (MBI) recently carried out the Harmoni Hijau Programme to raise awareness on the importance of environmental care.

The initiative took place at the Basketball Court, Kinta Heights Apartments, emphasising community involvement — particularly among senior residents — in landscaping and greening their residential area.

Activities included a community clean-up, repainting pedestrian walkways, and tree planting as part of the official launch ceremony.

As a launch feature, participants planted Garcinia subelliptica trees, chosen for their suitability as shade-providing elements in the housing area, contributing to a more comfortable and greener environment.

The programme aligns with Ipoh’s vision of becoming a sustainable, green, and livable city. It also fosters community cooperation while raising awareness on the importance of environmental preservation.

The event was officiated by Khairul Anwar Bachok, Deputy Director-General (Housing Development) of the National Housing Department, and attended by MBI Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak, representatives from the National Landscape Department, the National Housing Department, and the local community, including members of the Kinta Heights Residents’ Association.

MBI plans to expand such initiatives progressively to ensure a balance between urban development and environmental sustainability.
