Ipoh: West Coast Expressway (WCE) has introduced an upgraded version of its mobile application to help highway users obtain real-time traffic information and plan their journeys more efficiently.
The enhanced application comes with various new digital features, including live traffic CCTV feeds, real-time traffic alerts and an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital assistant.
To date, the WCE application has recorded nearly 20,000 downloads, reflecting the growing adoption of digital platforms among highway users.
Among the key features introduced is ‘Traffic Update’, which delivers notifications on accidents, traffic disruptions and road closures directly to users.
In addition, the ‘Route Assistant’ feature helps motorists obtain route guidance to their destinations through navigation applications using the WCE alignment.
The application is also equipped with a toll fare calculator, enabling users to check travel charges based on entry and exit plazas as well as vehicle class.
Users can also access information on highway facilities, including Rest and Service Areas (R&R), electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, toll plazas and emergency telephones.
WCE managing director Lyndon Alfred Felix said in a statement that the application upgrade was part of the company’s efforts to strengthen the highway user experience through digital technology.
According to him, WCE aims to ensure users enjoy safer and smoother journeys while having access to accurate information at all times.
He added that the application also helps users identify tourist attractions, historical landmarks, hotels and restaurants along the WCE route more easily.
The AI-powered ‘WCE Assistant’ feature, meanwhile, offers instant assistance related to travel and highway facilities through the digital platform.
Members of the public are encouraged to download or update the WCE application via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store to enjoy a more modern and efficient travel experience.
