IPOH: Residents of Bandar Cyber have voiced concern over the operation of a roadside fried food stall, claiming it has left grease stains and unpleasant odours while affecting the cleanliness of the surrounding area.
The stall is located along Persiaran Lapangan Cyber 1, opposite a pharmacy and a household goods store.
Residents said the business is not a permanent structure, operating instead under a portable umbrella with foldable tables that are removed after trading hours.
According to a complainant identified as Boon Wan, the stall usually operates from midday until late afternoon.

He said the location was unsuitable as it is situated beside a busy main road.
“The situation could pose safety risks to both the trader and customers.
“We are not trying to prevent small traders from earning a living, but this location is inappropriate, and the remnants of the business activities are affecting the cleanliness of the area,” he said.
Another resident, Kok Wei, claimed that cooking oil stains left on the roadside pavement had caused unpleasant odours.

He said he supported small businesses but believed operating on public walkways and leaving behind grease stains was not an appropriate practice.
“There are two issues here — cleanliness and safety. Whether the traders have a valid licence or not is not our concern; that is for the authorities to investigate.
“There are customers who stop their vehicles along the road shoulder to purchase food.
“At times, this disrupts traffic flow and causes inconvenience to other road users,” he said.
The residents have urged the local authorities to take the necessary action to ensure that cleanliness and public safety in the area are properly maintained.
