IPOH: About 1,000 polytechnic students from across the country took part in a large-scale community clean-up programme involving 11 selected locations around Ipoh.
The participants, who are members of the Territorial Army, were involved in the Malaysian Polytechnic Territorial Army Annual Camp (MALPTAAC) 2017 held at Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO).
Among the locations involved were the Gugusan Manjoi area, Bandar Baru Bercham, and several sites within Ipoh city.


According to PUO in a statement, a total of 19 polytechnics nationwide are involved in the Territorial Army regiment under the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK).
The Jiwa Murni programme serves as an ongoing initiative to strengthen ties between educational institutions, security forces and local communities.
“Among the main activities carried out are cleaning works inside and outside mosques and suraus, as well as painting activities to beautify and enhance the facilities of the respective places of worship,” the statement said.
The programme will also be attended by Politeknik Ungku Omar Academic Deputy Director Norman Zamri and Penghulu Besar Dr Mohd Sani Kamaruddin.
