KAMPAR: A group of 15 lecturers from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) recently organised the “English Explorers: Communicate, Collaborate, Create” programme at SMK Methodist (ACS) Kampar to enhance students’ English language skills through interactive learning activities.
The programme was designed to strengthen students’ communication abilities, creativity and critical thinking through a series of engaging language-based challenges.
Activities conducted included Charades, Word Formation, Story Construction, Picture Description and Interview Challenges, which encouraged students to actively use English in a fun and collaborative environment.
The programme was coordinated by Sonisha Johanthan, with 15 UTAR lecturers serving as facilitators and mentors throughout the activities.
Students were divided into groups to complete various tasks aimed at improving their confidence in communicating while developing teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The initiative adopted a 21st-century learning approach, allowing students to gain practical experience through hands-on activities, peer interaction and collaborative learning.
SMK Methodist (ACS) Kampar principal Hardave Singh Virk expressed his appreciation to UTAR for organising the programme, saying such initiatives helped make English learning more enjoyable while building students’ confidence in using the language.
The programme ended with a prize-giving ceremony for participants, followed by a group photography session to mark the occasion.
Both UTAR and SMK Methodist (ACS) Kampar hoped similar collaborations would continue in the future to equip students with essential communication skills and prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.
