IPOH: A 42-year-old local man was arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening an enforcement officer from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) while the officer was carrying out his duty to issue a compound notice at Jalan Pengkalan Barat 35 last Friday.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the suspect had acted aggressively by allegedly attempting to ram the victim with a vehicle, tailing him, pulling his shirt collar and issuing threats.

“The victim suffered minor injuries and lodged a police report.

“Following information received, a team of officers and personnel from the Ipoh District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Division managed to arrest the suspect on Saturday at about 12.40 pm to assist investigations.

“The case is being investigated under Section 353 and Section 506 of the Penal Code. An application for remand will be made to facilitate further investigations,” he said.

Muhammad Najib added that stern action would be taken against any party who obstructs, assaults or threatens civil servants while they are carrying out their duties.
