IPOH: Owners of buildings, business premises, firms, factories and private residences within the administrative area of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) have been urged to take part in the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign in conjunction with the 69th National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
Ipoh Mayor Datuk Zamakhshari Hanipah also encouraged property owners to beautify their premises with appropriate decorative lighting and attractive landscaping, and to maintain high standards of cleanliness and cheerfulness.
He said members of the public are encouraged to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their respective premises from August 1 to September 30.
“This year’s theme, Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati (Malaysia Madani: Prosperity Enjoyed), reflects the nation’s continued commitment to strengthening unity, fostering patriotism, and appreciating the independence we have achieved together.
“This initiative will not only brighten the city’s surroundings but also serve as a manifestation of our love, pride and loyalty to the nation,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Zamakhshari reminded the public to ensure the national flag is displayed correctly and with due respect by adhering to the prescribed flag arrangement.
For premises with two flagpoles, the Jalur Gemilang should be flown alongside the state flag.
“For premises with three flagpoles, the arrangement should be the state flag, the Jalur Gemilang, and the institution or department flag, as viewed from outside the building.
“The flying of the Jalur Gemilang symbolises our love and pride for the country.
“Let us come together to enliven the National Day celebrations and demonstrate the spirit of unity among the people of Ipoh,” he added.
