IPOH: The lives of the public should not be put at risk simply because of delays in addressing the issue of stray dogs, said Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri.
He said he had repeatedly raised the matter during the Perak State Legislative Assembly sittings, but claimed the issue had yet to be effectively addressed.
“How long must the people continue living in fear?
“Children are no longer free to play outdoors. Residents are afraid to walk, while motorcyclists face the risk of being attacked daily.
“Have the lives of the people no longer become a priority?” he questioned.
Hafez stressed that the state government and relevant authorities must take immediate action by implementing a clear, firm and effective plan to tackle the issue.
“The safety of the public is not something that can continue to be taken lightly,” he added.
