IPOH: Six petrol stations across Perak were inspected following public complaints and a viral social media post alleging that RON95 petrol was suspected to have been contaminated with water, resulting in damage to consumers’ vehicles.
Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the inspections, carried out on Tuesday, involved areas around Ipoh, Taiping and Kuala Kangsar.

He said KPDN enforcement officers conducted physical inspections and checks of storage systems, as well as fuel sampling, including a review of relevant records and documents.
“The investigation was carried out comprehensively by inspecting the fuel storage tanks through manual dipping using a dipstick/dip rod.
“We also cross-checked the readings from the Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) system and took RON95 petrol samples from the storage tanks and the pumps involved to be submitted to the Department of Chemistry Malaysia for official analysis.
“We also collected and reviewed records of fuel deliveries, fuel sales transaction documents and other relevant information from the petrol station operators for the period concerned,” he said.

However, he said preliminary inspections through manual dipping and checks of the ATG system found no indication of water contamination in the fuel storage tanks inspected.
“These preliminary findings should not be regarded as a final decision.
“The fuel samples collected by KPDN have now been submitted to the Department of Chemistry Malaysia for detailed scientific analysis.
“As such, KPDN will not draw any conclusions regarding the allegations until the official analysis results are obtained and the investigation is finalised,” he said.
He stressed that KPDN Perak would review the laboratory analysis results and the overall findings of the investigation before determining further action.
Kamalludin added that if any violation of laws enforced by KPDN was proven, stern action would be taken against the parties responsible.
