Perak Mosque Trail Package

The Perak Mosque Trail Package launched by Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, is expected to be a hit with local and foreign tourists.

The package takes tourists to eight mosques of historical significance within the state. They are the Ubudiah Mosque, Kuala Kangsar; Ihsaniah Iskandariah Mosque, Kg Kuala Dal Padang Rengas; Dato’ Panglima Kinta Mosque, Ipoh; India Muslim Mosque, Ipoh; Kampung Paloh Mosque, Ipoh; Pakistani Mosque, Ipoh; Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque, Ipoh; and the  Muhammadiah Mosque, Ipoh. Most of the mosques are located within the city limits thus making travelling and communicating easy for package holders.

“Selection of mosques’ is based on their historical and heritage values, design and their contributions to the local Muslim community,” said Zambry to reporters after officiating Tourism Perak’s new office and logo recently.

Executive Councillor for Tourism, Culture, Multimedia and Communications, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi and Mohd Kamil Shafie, chairman of Tourism Perak Management Berhad were present at the ceremony which was held at Tourism Perak’s new office at Jalan Teh Hawa, Ipoh (nearby former Tune Hotel).

“Perak received the highest number of domestic tourists in 2014 with a total of 7.1 million visitors,” said the MB. “Therefore, there’s a need to build more hotels, especially the 4-star type,” he added.

Last year some 16 hotels were built throughout the state. Zambry hoped more would be established to cater for the demand.

Local tour operator, Aidil Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd undertakes to manage the mosque trail tour by offering an affordable 3D/2N package to buyers.

On a related matter, Nolee told Ipoh Echo that her office, through Tourism Perak Management Berhad, has embarked on a plan to attract Muslim tourists, especially those from the Middle East and China.
