Tourist Arrivals to Perak

The number of tourist arrivals to Perak recorded a 20 per cent increase between January and March this year, as compared to the same period last year.

This would help the state achieve its eight-million target in view of the ongoing Visit Perak Year 2017.

Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said based on statistics from Malaysia Airport Berhad, Perak witnessed a total of 31,785 tourist arrivals for the first quarter of the year compared to 22,095 last year.

“This is the result of the hard work by agencies involved in promoting Perak.

“My appreciation goes to Perak Amateur Radio Association for their contributions in promoting Visit Perak Year 2017 via their radio frequencies which are accessible worldwide. This mode of communication has contributed to the increase in tourist arrivals to the state.

“The use of amateur radio for communication is widespread. It can reach listeners all over the world through selected frequencies,” said Nolee after officiating Perak Ham Radio Fair 2017 at RTC Gopeng on April 1.

The two-day event was attended by some 170 participants comprising members of the amateur radio community in Perak.

The event showcased equipment and activities associated with ham radio. They included digital and high-frequency radio communications, Morse code and others.
