Fun Drive to Ipoh

In conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017, the Selangor Tourism Association initiated a 300km fun drive to Ipoh on Saturday, September 30. Running on three major themes namely, tourism awareness, road safety and appreciation for tourism products, the convoy ended its journey at the Lost World of Tambun where a prize-giving ceremony was held. The flag-off point was at the Goldcourse Hotel, Klang.

Present were Mohd Taib Wahab, the advisor of Selangor Tourism Association and Hj Mohd Odzman bin Abdul Kadir, president of Perak Tourism Association.

Mohd Taib told Ipoh Echo, “With 100 registered participants hailing from Selangor, this is the first time our fun drive ventures to Perak, as it is usually held within Selangor. Road signage is still poor. For instance, from Kampung Gajah to Tanjung Tualang, many missed the road and ended up in Seri Iskandar.”

“We saw the last tin dredge here for the first time. In Selangor, we have long tried to save the dredge in Dengkil but it’s gone now,” he added.

The top five winners of the fun drive, interwoven with various activities, were Muhammad Adam Ariff, Mazmadi Mohd, Junaida Fatina, Nurin Afiqah Zulkifli and Tan Ching Nyap. Meanwhile, Aimi Nazimah and Hisyamudin Zakariah emerged champions in the best selfie category. The prizes comprised of plane tickets and hotel room vouchers.
