A Century of Sports

SMK Anderson Ipoh is a school whose origins date back to 1909 and achieving a 100-year sports anniversary is no simple task.

In conjunction with its 100th Sports Anniversary, a sports carnival was held on Friday, March 30 at the school hall. Principal of SMK Anderson Ipoh, Zahidi bin Abd Ghani along with his senior assistants and students of the school joined in to make the occasion an eventful one.

According to Zahidi, the objectives of the carnival were to raise funds to improve the school’s facilities and to set up a gallery to honour past, present and future school athletes.

Present to officiate the event was the Executive Councillor for Human Resource, Youth and Sports, Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya.

“A sum of RM10,000 will be donated to the school. This may not be much but it’s a good start, nonetheless,” said Shahrul in his opening speech.

He urged everyone to make this year’s sports carnival a grand and extraordinary one.

With a long and glorious history, it is hoped that with the cooperation of everyone, including the stakeholders, the school’s tradition of producing world and national class sportsmen will be kept alive.
