LABpark is Back!

Ipoh Echo got the first look at LABpark as the experimental light festival unveiled on Friday, June 15 at Bandar Baru Sri Klebang.

Upon entrance, start your dreamy stroll in the illuminous garden brimming with decorated flora as the live music, glowing orbs and multi-hued fairy lights set the mood.

Then, check out the shipping containers converted into curated art inside the boxes where a play of mirrors warped perceptions. Among the crowd favourites are the interactive Art in the Dark Lab where you can create a neon night scene hands-on with glow in the dark paints and the Illume & Bloom Lab where creativity blossomed in a luminescent forest.

“When they register for the visit and win in the contest during this period, they’re entitled to weekly lucky draw prizes such as household appliances, hampers and vouchers. Winners would be announced in Facebook and contacted. Those who sign up, either at our Primrose show house or LABpark, would receive an informative newsletter from us,” Sook Wah, Kinta Properties Deputy Marketing Manager explained.

“I’ve been to LABpark three times in the past. I like the light installations because it’s very rare to see something like this in Ipoh. The meticulous effort in creating the display in the containers is equally admirable. From the outside, the containers seem small but within, it exhibits a whole new world,” said 70-year-old Tan who hails from Ipoh Garden South.

Sam, who came with her husband and 2-year-old daughter, told Ipoh Echo: “We stay in this area and have dropped by when it reopened during the Chinese New Year. It’s really pretty and my little girl is walking everywhere to explore this spot!”

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Lee and her boyfriend, Carrick shared the same sentiments. “This is our first time here. From the layout, lightings to the containers, everything is just so Instagram-worthy. We’ll most probably return for the next version of LABpark,” they shared.

LABpark is a family-friendly event held on Thursdays to Sundays, 7pm to 11pm, from Friday 15 June to Sunday 1 July. Powered by Kinta Properties, entrance is free.
