Insurance Agent Slashed, Now Under Treatment

An insurance agent was badly injured on Sunday, June 7, when he was slashed by a client following a heated debate over policy issues at a house in Marina Villa, Lumut.

According to the Police Chief of Manjung District, Assistant Commissioner Nor Omar Sappi, the suspect, in his 20s, fled the scene using a Toyota Vellfire.

“Moments after the victim was slashed, who is also in his 20s, the suspect drove his way to Sitiawan while also recklessly hitting six other vehicles,” he explained in a statement dated June 8. “He then ran off to a building nearby and stole a Proton Saga BLM.”

Nor Omar said that the suspect was successfully apprehended around 2.30pm in an injured state at Seri Manjung while the Proton Saga BLM was retrieved in an oil palm estate at Gurney’s Town next to Sitiawan.

The police chief added that a knife believed to be used in the slashing was seized and the victim is now receiving treatment at Seri Manjung Hospital.

The case will be investigated under Section 326 and Section 392 of the Penal Code.
