New Attraction: Pavilion Petting Zoo

The 6.7-acre Pavilion Petting Zoo is one new attraction located at Chemor, Ipoh.

With an entry fee starting from RM5 for adults and children, it is open everyday except on Fridays from 10am till 6pm.

Managing Director of Pavilion Petting Zoo, Syariff Yahya explained that the inspiration of the establishment came from his children who love animals and whom he would bring to the Taiping Zoo almost every week.

“Before the existence of the Pavilion Petting Zoo, this was formerly a private petting zoo meant for my family only. After a year, we decided to open the space to the public at an affordable price so that everyone can afford to bring their kids here and spread the cheer,” he shared.

The petting zoo was officially opened to the public from February 22 for three weeks before being closed temporarily due to the MCO. The first phase of the establishment was completed with three more developmental phases in the pipeline.

Among the animals to spot at the petting zoo are the horse, iguana, porcupine, Persian cat, tortoise, chicken, goat, turkey, duck, rabbit, quail, tarantula, hamster, various types of birds and more.

The petting zoo adheres to the health and safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) which include temperature screening, recording of names, social distancing, a limited number of visitors at a time, plenty of hand-washing stations, frequent disinfection of the zoo areas and more. All the animals are cared for under the supervision of vets.
