Punishment of RM8,000 for false claim from SOCSO 

Fifty-six-year-old general worker Rosli Mohd Ali was sentenced under Section 93 (a) of the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (4) at Ipoh Magistrate Court yesterday for disseminating false information.

The defendant had committed an offence as he made a false accident claim to the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) in March 2015 for a compensation of RM41, 158.39 which he had then received. 

A total of 10 witnesses were called since the hearing began. 

The defendant was found guilty by Magistrate Siti Hanum Mohamad Sah and was fined RM8,000 or eight months imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

The prosecution team was led by the Head of the Prosecution Unit, Yuzain Yusof and Prosecuting Officers, Khalimi Jamian and Mohd Farin Shamsuddin.

Present at the hearing was the Director of SOCSO Perak, Anthony Arul Dass. 

As an organisation that administers social security funds, SOCSO will not compromise and will take strict action against anyone committing the same offense. 

Based on the Perak SOCSO prosecution statistics in 2019, 75 were brought to the court. In August alone, a total of 112 prosecuted cases were filed.
