Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu wishes for stability of the state’s administration, besides protection of citizens’ harmony.
He commented so after failing to obtain majority support when a motion of confidence against him was submitted during the state assembly sitting morning today (December 4).
“I’m willing to cooperate with anyone to be appointed by HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, because I believe all of us prefer a smooth transition of government administration.
“What’s more, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I never wanted political issues to be prolonged. To me, the citizens’ interest and safety are my priorities.
“I thank my partners in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition for sticking with me during the previous government administration, and also to executive councillors who cooperated and assisted me in countless matters,” he told reporters.
Meanwhile, Faizal was slated to have an audience with Sultan Nazrin at Istana Kinta, Ipoh.
Sources informed that state assembly speaker, Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid was also expected to have an audience with Sultan Nazrin.
Earlier, a motion of confidence against Faizal saw 10 votes of support, 48 against him and one damaged ballot.
The motion was called for by Pengkalan Bharu state assemblyman, Datuk Abd Manaf Hashim, which was then allowed to proceed by Datuk Mohamad Zahir during the sitting.
