Following the ongoing political turmoil in the state, the president of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived at Istana Kinta here this morning today (December 6) to have an audience with HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
A Toyota Vellfire which transported him was seen entering the palace around 9.45am earlier today.
It was understood that through the audience with Sultan Nazrin, Ahmad Zahid, who’s also the parliamentary member for Bagan Datuk constituency, is to present the results of a special meeting held at the Perak UMNO Building (next to Impiana Hotel) late evening yesterday.
The media who waited there since 8pm yesterday was unable to obtain any comments from Ahmad Zahid as he was reluctant to provide any statements.
To recap, in a state assembly sitting recently, the now former Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu failed to obtain majority support from assembly members in a motion of confidence initiated against him by Pengkalan Baharu state assemblyman, Abd Manaf Hashim.
Out of 59 assembly members, only 10 voted in favour of Ahmad Faizal, while 48 were against him and one vote was damaged.
