Two Businessmen Charged Over Bitcoin Investment Scam

Two businessmen claimed trial at the Ipoh Magistrate Court today (February 2) over three charges of defrauding three women of RM150,500 through a Bitcoin Actionnode investment last year.

The defendants, Reduan Ismail, 38 and Adan Ibrahim, 33, pleaded not guilty to all charges towards them which were read in front of Magistrate Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus.

Both were accused of cheating two women of RM26,000 and RM120,000 respectively by promising a 20 percent monthly return for seven consecutive months. The offence was allegedly committed at Casuarina Meru Hotel on 12pm, July 26 last year.

The duo were also accused of cheating yet another woman of RM4,500 with a similar tactic at the same place on 10am, May 8 last year.

They were charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which was read together with Section 34 of the same Code, in which if convicted, both can be imprisoned up to 10 years, whipped and fined.

The court allowed the duo to be bailed at RM2,500 for each charge read against them, along with a surety.

The case was fixed for mention on March 9.

Prosecution was done by Deputy Public Prosecutor K. Darinee while the accused were represented by lawyers Aizul Rohan Anuar, Hazwa Mahira Azman and Nurradiah Zaini.
