Efforts to cultivate love and goodwill amongst the unfortunate is the main agenda of Yayasan Petronas (YP) via their ‘Sentuhan Kasih Sempena Tahun Baru Cina’ (Chinese New Year Touch of Love) programme.
According to the Petronas Head of Northern and Central Region, Zulkifli Othman, the programme is in line with the Petronas Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“We’re always committed in instilling the spirit of practicing the rites and traditions of spreading the Chinese New Year joy with the needy via contribution of basic necessities.
“The community effort is in line with Petronas’ festive celebration corporate message to lessen the burdens of those celebrating the major festival while taking on challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” he said after a simple contribution presentation ceremony at the Kinta District Social Welfare Office today (February 11).
Receivers of the contribution were coordinated by the Perak Social Welfare Department (JKM) for distribution and handing over.
Some 400 gift packs containing basic necessity supplies worth RM100 each were presented to be distributed to orphans, senior citizens and the disabled from 11 welfare homes and less capable households on February 8 (Monday).
Meanwhile, the deputy director of JKM, Nor Asikin Ibrahim stated that the aid distribution is meaningful in the effort of lessening burdens of citizens affected by challenges of the pandemic.
“JKM is always ready to cooperate, especially when any festive seasons are around the corner. Through this contribution, we’re able to share joy and hearten those celebrating the Chinese New Year without their family members who are living far away,” she expressed.
Also present were Senior Director for Corporate Communications Department of Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Shamsina Shaharun and Kinta District Social Welfare Officer, Samsuddin Osman.
