Wood-based Factory Operating Without Valid Licence Raided

The enforcers of the Perak State Forestry Department arrested two local males and confiscated several wood processing tools during a raid on a wood-based factory at Kati, Kuala Kangsar which had been operating without a valid licence.

The Director of the Perak State Forestry Department, Datuk Mohamed Zin Yusop stated that the enforcement team found that the factory did not possess a valid licence under the Wood-based Industries Enactment from the department.

“Besides confiscating the equipment, the enforcement team also arrested two males who were at the premises.

“Both of them were brought to the Kuala Kangsar Police Station for investigation purposes within a 24-hour period before a police bail bond was issued.”

“A four-wheel drive Toyota Hilux, together with its load of rubber wood and durian wood, was immediately impounded,” he said via a statement released recently.

He added that five band sawing machines, two crosscut saws, three compressors and a planer machine used for processing various types of woods in the factory were also impounded.

“All impounded items were transferred to a store in Sungai Siput for further investigation. Operations and patrols on premises and the public will be continued even during the period of Recovery Movement Control Order,” he said.
