Road Accident Involving a Bus and 14 Victims Near Ipoh

An accident involving a bus and 14 victims occurred at KM265 of the Plus North-South Expressway (Southbound), a little ahead from the Menora Tunnel near Meru Raya, Ipoh, earlier today (April 4).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the road incident was received around 2.22am.

“A squad and a fire vehicle from the Ipoh and Meru Raya Fire and Police Station, along with an ambulance, were rushed to the scene right after.

“Investigations have shown that the Cosmic Express bus skidded onto the road shoulder but no other vehicles were affected. It was headed from Kulim to Kuala Lumpur.

“During the accident’s aftermath, 14 victims comprising 11 men and 3 women were found sustained with injuries. There were no casualties.

“The squad used a stretcher to rescue the trapped victims. Preliminary treatments were given to them and subsequently handed over to the ambulance for further actions,” he explained.

The rescue operation which ended at 4.39am was manned by Assistant Fire Superintendent Shahrudi Muhamad Talil.

Officers for JBPM Perak Zone 1, Senior Fire Superintendent I Nor Rasidamayati Abd Rasid and Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Anuar Mohd Saff, coordinated the operation.
