Body of Drowned Man Found

The body of a man who fell into Sungai Dinding near Kampung Telaga Emas in Air Tawar yesterday evening was found floating about four kilometres from the site where the victim was believed to have gone missing.

During the incident which happened around 8.20pm, the victim, Azrin Hamidun who was in his 30s was believed to have fallen from a fisherman’s boat while cast-net fishing at the river mouth.

The Operation Chief of Air Tawar Fire and Rescue Station, PBK I Kamaruzziman Abdullah said that the victim’s body was found around 8.25am by a fisherman who participated in the search operation.

According to him, the team who continued the search operation in the morning had widened the search area.

“The body was retrieved by the rescue team and handed over to the police for further action.

“The search involved some 23 personnel from the fire and rescue department, police, Civil Defence Force and two boats,” he stated via a statement today (April 5).

The operation ended at 10am.
