Highway Accident Involving a Tank Truck; No Leakage Found

An accident involving a tank truck and its conductor occurred at KM256 of the North-South PLUS Expressway (Northbound), near the Kuala Kangsar toll exit earlier today (April 24).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the road incident was received at around 4.44am.

“A squad and a fire vehicle from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) along with a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) unit from Pasir Puteh BBP were rushed to the scene right after.

“The truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG UN 1075) skidded in the middle of the road. However, no leakage was found via detection work by the HAZMAT unit.

“The conductor who sustained injuries had been sent to the nearest hospital by public witnesses before the rescue squad arrived.

“The truck was subsequently diverted and relocated by PLUS,” he explained.

The operation which ended at around 11.31am was led by Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent (PKPgB) Ahmad Izuwan Zakaria and coordinated by PKPgB Akmal Azizi Alias.
