Tapah in Batang Padang District Set to be Tourist Hotspot

The town of Tapah located in Batang Padang district is set to be a tourist hotspot come the end of June.

The chairperson of Persatuan Pengusaha Pelancongan Bumiputra Negeri Perak (a local tourism operator association), Zamari Muhyi stated that the association would collaborate with Tourism Perak to create new tourism products in the town.

“For the first phase, we would create an art alley with mural paintings and art installations which is expected to be completed by the end of June.

“On the weekend of the first week of every month, a weekly arts bazaar would be held to provide business opportunities to the young generation to exhibit and sell their creations.

“A Kembara Perak Stop Centre would also be set up to provide information on tourism products and arts found in the Batang Padang district,” he said in a media statement yesterday (May 6).

According to him, the association would also create a Tapah and Batang Padang Fun Map and Tapah Heritage Trail brochure to facilitate visitors in exploring the existing tourism products.

“We hope that the plans would be able to help in boosting the local economy besides reviving the domestic tourism industry,” he added.

Present at the discussion were Yang DiPertua of Tapah District Council, Muhamad Shahlan Husnin and CEO of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa.
