MBI’s First Gerobok Rezeki Initiative

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) achieved another feat as the first local authority (PBT) in Perak to engage in the ‘Gerobok Rezeki’, a food bank initiative for the underprivileged under the MBI Prihatin programme.

According to City Councillor Dato’ Mazlan Abdul Rahman, the first completed food bank outpost of its kind at Kampung Cik Zainal cost RM3,800 overall.

“The outpost took a week to build. For starters, RM1,000 worth of food products were loaded into it.

“We highly encourage the public to lend a helping hand in providing food for those who are badly affected by the pandemic.

“Also, engagement with the community is crucial in ensuring that this initiative works. I was notified that certain parties have already contacted the village chief for contributions.”

He told reporters during a media session at the said food bank outpost today (July 23).

Also present to launch the food bank was the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin.
