PCSH to Launch its Second Vaccination Centre at Meru Valley Resort

Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) will launch its second vaccination centre, a Mega PPV administrating COVID-19 vaccinations under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, at Meru Valley Resort on August 2.

This Mega PPV, a joint venture with Meru Valley Resort, was initiated to assist the Government’s efforts to provide free vaccination for citizens who have registered under the MySejahtera app and will be operating from Mondays to Fridays from 8:30am till 5:00pm.

Its target is to carry out 600 vaccinations per day.

The registration of recipients and the appointment of their respective vaccination dates are processed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) via the MySejahtera app or the website (vaksincovid.gov.my). Thus, members of the public are advised not to visit the Vaccination Centre without prior appointment and walk-ins will not be accepted.

Dato’ Lee Hau Hian, President of The Perak Chinese Maternity Association (TPCMA) said that PCSH is the first private hospital to be appointed as a vaccination centre (PPV) in Ipoh on May 31. This second Mega PPV at Meru Valley Function Hall has been set up as Perak prepares to enter the third phase of the National Recovery Plan. The usage of Meru Valley Resort, with its extensive facilities, can help contribute to the success of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, with its daily vaccination capacity of 600 recipients.

Currently, PCSH is vaccinating 200 recipients a day (7 days a week); the launch of the Meru Valley Function Hall PPV will thus bring the total up to 800 daily recipients across both vaccination centres. According to him, the number, though may not be huge, is a testament and form of support to increase the national vaccination rate and expedite the vaccination programme.

All staff will put on the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), face shields and follow the necessary protocols including social distancing while adhering to the Ministry’s requirements. The team is made up of 20 personnel comprising doctors, nurses, staff and part-timers.

Lee added that as a healthcare provider, PCSH always looks forward to aid the nation’s efforts in curbing COVID-19. PCSH is proud to assist in the COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, consistent with its mission as a non-profit hospital, providing affordable yet quality healthcare to the community.

Shaifuzan Bahari, Chief Executive Officer of Meru Valley Resort stated that they are honoured to support PCSH and play their part in the National Vaccination Programme.

“We are committed to ensuring that our community achieves the programme’s objectives in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
