13th USAS Convocation Ceremony to be Held Virtually

A total of 1,292 graduates of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) will graduate at the 13th USAS Convocation Ceremony which will be held virtually this Saturday.

The convocation ceremony has been delayed for the past eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

USAS Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Dr. Anas Md Yusof said, the ceremony will take place according to the new norm via Zoom platform, as well as the USAS official Facebook and Youtube channel from 9am to 1pm.

Dr Anas, who is also the Director of the 13th USAS Convocation Council, said that a total of 757 graduates involved are from the Faculty of Islamic Studies while 536 are from the Faculty of Information Technology and Management.

“The declaration of conferment will be made by USAS Vice Chancellor, Tan Sri Prof. Dr. Nordin Kardi comprising two recipients of Doctor of Philosophy, Master (59), Bachelor (288) and Diploma (943).

“The convocation ceremony this time will also see the proclamation of Tan Sri Dr. Wan Zahid Mohd Noordin as another USAS Pro Chancellor,” he said in a statement.

At this ceremony, the Tuanku Chancellor’s Award will be given to the graduate of the Bachelor of Counseling (Hons), Muhammad Shukri Mohd Khalil while the Perak Menteri Besar’s Award will be received by Muhammad Firdaus Abu Mansor who is also from the same faculty.

Meanwhile, the USAS Vice Chancellor’s Award will be presented to Mohamad Isman Zakaria (Bachelor of Usuluddin (Hadith)).

Anas explained that the convocation itself will be declared by the university’s Pro Chancellor, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jeneral (B) Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin.

He said the convocation ceremony scheduled for December last year had been postponed due to the uncertainty of the pandemic situation.

“In this regard, USAS has taken the initiative to seek the consent of Chancellor, Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah for the declaration of conferment to graduates who are eligible to graduate.

“This is to ensure that official certificates and transcripts can be issued immediately.

“This is because USAS takes into account the needs of graduates for official certificates and transcripts for job applications, continuing studies, National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans and other study-related matters,” he said.
