RM187,000 Worth of Drugs Seized by Ipoh Police

The police of Ipoh seized RM187,000 worth of ecstasy drugs during an operation at a condominium located at Jalan Medan Ipoh on August 20.

According to the Ipoh district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, a 20-year-old male suspect was arrested at around 11.45pm during the operation to facilitate investigations on the case.

“The suspect was found at the front of the condominium’s lift entrance, where he was in possession of four packets of drugs, labeled ‘Kenzo’ and ‘Versace’.  

“The team subsequently examined a white Proton Saga at a nearby parking lot, in which 20 ‘Hermes Paris’ packets of drugs were found stashed in the bonnet.

“Also seized were some empty packets and equipment used to pack the drugs.

“The team then proceeded to a condominium unit, guided by the suspect, where the remaining 65 packets of drugs were found.

“All of the seized drugs were found in 89 fruity-flavoured drink packets, weighing 5.67kg overall.”

He told reporters during a media session at the Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD) today (August 24).

Yahaya added that the suspect has been issued a remand order which started on August 21.

“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“If convicted, the suspect will be sentenced to a mandatory death by hanging,” he mentioned.
