Flood Situation Improving in Perak

The flood situation in the state is getting better as the number of flood victims housed in two temporary relief centers (PPS) has decreased to 191 people involving 35 families.

Yesterday, the number of victims housed at the centres involved 241 people from 66 families.

A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said a total of 111 flood victims from 17 families were housed at PPS SK Alor Pongsu.

“They are residents from Kampung Matang Pasir and Kampung Parit Simpang 4 and 5.

“Meanwhile, there are 50 victims from 18 families at PPS SK Changkat Lobak, with some of the victims having returned to their homes,” he said in the statement.

The Kerian District Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) has received two mobile pump units loaned by the Perlis DID in an effort to speed up the flow of water in flooded areas.

One pump unit has been activated in the Kampung Selekoh area in Kerian in addition to the existing capacity of four pump units.
