In the midst of this pandemic, surely many are looking for a safe and comfortable place to relax and dine.

Fairway Restaurant and Greens Bistro located at the Royal Perak Golf Club (RPGC), Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah offers just that, and they are ready to welcome visitors with food worthy of a five-star hotel.

Previously, many may think that RPGC operates exclusively on a membership basis but it is actually open to the public.

Even more interesting is that the price of each item on the a-la-carte menu is beyond expectations and affordable for all walks of life.

Head chef Mohd Khairul Azhar Nordin, 35, or better known as Chef Azhar Nordin, said Fairway Restaurant on the first floor offers 39 menu items while Greens Bistro on the ground floor offers 20 items for visitors to choose from.

“Fairway Restaurant focuses on Chinese cuisines that are combined with authentic traditional Malay flavors (fusion food). Among the dishes that are in high demand are Dry Salted Egg Mantis Prawn (RM13.90), Nasi Goreng Senandung (RM13.90), Wonton Sang Mien (RM17.90), Salsa Beef Burger (RM18.90), Crater Meat Ball (RM13.90), Spicy Korean Chicken Wing (RM15.90) and Chocolate Lava Cake (RM10.90).

Greens Bistro with a kopitiam concept is no less impressive with its main menu boasting dishes such as Roasted Chicken (RM19.00), Famous Nasi Lemak (RM6.50) and Biryani Rice (RM23.00).

“Every month, we hold promotions with different menus to meet the taste of customers of various races,” said Azharl, who has been in the culinary field for more than 15 years and has won the Gold Award in the Culinaire Malaysia 2015 competition for the Ethnic Malay Cuisine category and the Silver Award for the Nyonya Cuisine category.

According to Azhar, the RPGC management always prioritizes the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) in ensuring the safety of staff and visitors as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“All of our staff are fully vaccinated and we will ensure that visitors display their vaccination certificates before entering our premises.

“In accordance with the SOPs, the number of visitors at Fairway Restaurant is limited to 100 people, which is half of the normal capacity. Meanwhile, Greens Bistro allows only up to 50 customers at a time. Our operating hours are from 11.00am to 10.00pm.

“This is the perfect choice for you to relax while enjoying a variety of dishes that would satisfy your tastebuds, in addition to prices that will make you return for more,” he said.
