‘Opening of 11 Economic Sectors to Speed Up Economic Recovery’— Ismail Sabri

The government will give priority to opening 11 economic sectors for the welfare of the people.

The Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the move to ‘confine’ the people is no longer appropriate at this time; in fact it is feared that it would bring more negative implications including on mental health.

“The opening of the economy will not only accelerate economic recovery, it also provides opportunities and space for people to improve their lives.

“The government has considered opening certain sectors as one of the ways to revive the country’s economy.

“The reopening of 11 economic sectors in states under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan is reasonable following the high percentage of vaccination,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat, today (September 14).

According to him, the decision was made by taking into account the risk assessment data conducted by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

“We will ensure strict SOPs and only those who have received full vaccinations can manage transactions or obtain services,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said so when replying to the question of Dato’ Mohd Salim Sharif (Jempol) who asked the Prime Minister to state the justification for reopening 11 economic sectors in the Phase One states when new daily cases are still recording worrying figures.
