Appeal for Donations for a Lifting Electric Wheelchair

Pong Seow Chin, 55, also fondly known as Jenny Pong, is a double leg amputee. She suffers from T9 paralegia, an injury to her lower spinal cord. She also suffers from a  neurogenic bladder.

Jenny used to own a motorised wheelchair with customised prone position Hi-Lo seating system since 2017 whereby she can adjust her wheelchair to her comfort, but due to heavy usage, it has ceased to operate  despite numerous repairs.

Jenny is a woman of perseverance. Despite life’s hardship and multiple challenges, she has a dynamic positivity in her outlook in life. Lying on her makeshift trolley to move about, she manages work around her house and does whatever she can to earn some money.

Moved by her enthusiasm and passion, Soroptimist International Ipoh (SI Ipoh) has empowered and helped her start her home-based business in 2016. She cooks her own curry paste, packs and takes orders and sends them out via courier.  Business has since been badly affected due to the Covid pandemic, but she perseveres.

On behalf of Jenny Pong, SI Ipoh appeals for donations to obtain the customised lifting electric wheelchair for her to move about. The total cost of the wheelchair is RM18,500.

Those who would like to contribute towards Jenny’s wheelchair can send your donations to: Soroptimist International Ipoh, Public Bank account no.: 3151382533.

For more information, contact the President of SI Ipoh, Kimberly Tan via mobile at 012-5968933.

Every little bit helps.
