IIFA 2021 to be Held from December 10 till 26

The Ipoh International Art Festival (IIFA) 2021 will be held for 16 days beginning December 10 till 26 featuring various programmes and attractive agendas specifically for art enthusiasts.

General Manager of People Of Remarkable Talent (PORT), Nur Hanim Mohamed Khairuddin explained that the art festival is a collaboration between PORT and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. It will highlight about 50 local and international artists with works of modern visual art and contemporary art.

“The festival, organised by PORT for the second time, also receives cooperation from Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh City Council, Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Tourism Perak. 

“Besides that, it also involves art associations such as Persatuan Pelukis Perak, Persatuan Kesenian dan Kebudayaan Orang Asli Perak, Persatuan Seramik Negeri Perak, Kapallorek Art Space and Chetak 17,” she stated.

She said so during a media conference on Tuesday evening (December 7).

Present were representatives of Persatuan Pelukis Perak, Hirzuan Zulkifli and Persatuan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Orang Asli Perak, Ronnie Bahari. 

Nur Hanim added that the officiating ceremony will be completed by Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad at 9.30am on December 11 at PORT’s premises along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah. 

According to her, the festival which runs on the theme “Budi: Expanding Traditions” is inspired from the Sanskrit word “Bhuddi” which carries meanings including “to wake, be awake, observe”. It emphasizes on noble actions, humility and good moral values.

She mentioned that the entry to the festival site is free for all programmes with compliance to set SOPs by the Ministry of Health (KKM) such as being fully vaccinated, putting on face masks and practising social distancing.
