Strategic Partnership Programmes Revive State Tourism

The state government via Tourism Perak has planned and implemented several recovery programmes to restore tourists’ confidence to visit the state and also to revive the industry.

Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi said this included strategic partnership programmes with the federal government via Tourism Malaysia in preparing tourism packages.

According to her, the implementation involving hotels and resorts for four northern states such as Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Perak was carried out on November 16 at Excelsior Hotel Ipoh in which Perak played host.

“Digital marketing and promotion also become a main platform in publicising the state and its hotels through the use of Facebook, TikTok, Twitter and others.

“Promotional and marketing programmes will also involve Key Opinion Leaders (KOL); media influencers who are able to attract members of the public, especially their followers, to visit the state,” she said during the state assembly sitting.

She said so when answering the question of Menglembu assemblyperson, Cham Kaw Foon regarding the steps taken by the state government to revive the tourism sector.

Nolee explained that programmes promoting hotels and resorts are continued by listing the registered hotels with tourism-related associations in e-brochures of tourism packages.

Also implemented is the introduction of the good practice guide for the handling of tourism premises and products (Pematuhan Amalan Baik Pengendalian Premis dan Produk Pelancongan) in the state which has been improved from the previous programme in order to provide and increase tourists’ confidence to visit Perak.

“The state tourism voucher programme was also introduced and has been extended till June 2022 by providing promotional offers to tourists.

“The state government via Tourism Perak has carried out several initiatives in phases by once again offering #TravelPerakLah vouchers for Phase 1 till 3 of the National Recovery Plan with a method whereby tourists can directly redeem the vouchers when purchasing a package or accommodation,” she mentioned.
