Upcoming: Pangkor International Boat Show 2022

A total of 20 countries will participate in the Pangkor International Boat Show 2022 (PIBS2022) to be held for the first time in the state.

Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the international-level exhibition will be held on October 19 till 23 of 2022.

“Participants are made up of owners, manufacturers and distributors of spare parts and accessories of the marine industry, including recreational sectors such as water sport activities, scuba diving, fishing and jet skiing.

“This is an effort by the state government to spice up the state tourism sector that has been impacted by the global pandemic for almost two years.

“PIBS2022 will not only become a catalyst for international-level tourism, it is also able to boost the socio-economy and highlight the unique culture of the local community.

“The global market of the marine industry has now reached RM147 billion a year and Perak, with a positive capacity in the tourism sector, should grab this golden opportunity,” he said at a media conference after the pre-launch of Pangkor International Boat Show recently.

The state government sees the potential of PIBS2022 as a reputable commerce platform offering good value and quality to the overall boat industry. It also provides a professional business environment for exhibitors and buyers around the world.

Other events that are also in the pipeline include a demonstration by the Naval Special Warfare Forces, an asset exhibition by the Royal Malaysian Navy, seminars pertaining to boat management and the preparation of a one-stop checkpoint.

Saarani also hopes that the PIBS2022 will fill the Malaysia maritime events calendar besides the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) among others.

“It’s not wrong for us to set an ambition so that one day, PIBS2022 will be the biggest event of its kind in the Asia Pacific. It is hoped that Perak will be increasingly known as a viable and excellent tourism destination.

PIBS2020 is made possible by the collaboration between Tourism Perak, Pertubuhan Usahawaniaga Perak and Eagle Swipe Global Sdn Bhd. It is expected to attract the attendance of over 60 thousand visitors from in and out of the country.
